Our Story

Momentum Alliance emerged from the “Papers” Youth Crew, youth who helped produce and distribute the documentary film, “Papers: Stories of Undocumented Youth,” which screened in all 50 states and the U.S. Capitol, and was broadcast on public television nationwide.

Momentum Alliance (MA) became a nonprofit in 2012. 2018 was the first year MA became entirely staffed by women and queer trans people of color under 30.

We are youth of color who are undocumented, immigrant, indigenous, LGBTQIA2S+, gang-affected, STI-positive and low-income, teen parents, caretakers, youth with disabilities, who impacted by foster care, displacement, houselessness, prison industrial complex, youth who have experienced war, domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse. We were raised in seven religious traditions.
